Communications Ministry Directs Ghana Digital Centres to Cancel Staff Suspension

The Ministry of Communication, Digital Technology and Innovations has ordered Ghana Digital Centres Limited to immediately cancel a circular that suspended the employment contracts of all staff.

The Ministry described the decision as unacceptable and instructed management to reverse it without delay.

In a statement issued on July 1, the Ministry said it strongly disagreed with the circular, which announced a temporary suspension of staff contracts while management carried out what it called a comprehensive assessment.

The suspension was expected to take effect from July 1, 2026.

According to the Ministry, all staff of Ghana Digital Centres Limited should ignore the directive because it had been rejected.

The Ministry also expressed support for employees affected by the June 29 floods, saying many workers had suffered personal losses during the disaster.

It stated that this was not the right time for such action against staff, especially when some of them were still dealing with the impact of the floods.

The Ministry further revealed that management of Ghana Digital Centres Limited had been invited to a meeting on July 2, 2026.

The meeting follows the Minister’s visit to the Centre on June 30 to inspect the level of flood damage to the facility and businesses operating there.

The discussion is expected to focus on the situation at the Centre and the appropriate steps to be taken.
