Mahama Says Ghana’s Economy Is Now Among Africa’s Strongest

President John Dramani Mahama says Ghana’s economy is currently considered one of the top-performing economies in Africa, following improvements in major economic indicators.

Speaking during the National Day of Prayer and Thanksgiving after attending prayers with Muslims at the National Mosque, President Mahama said Ghana has made strong progress over the past year through careful economic management, discipline and the determination of its citizens.

According to him, the country’s recovery has gained recognition across the continent despite global uncertainties, including the conflict in the Middle East.

He said Ghana’s economy has shown strong resilience and has managed to withstand external pressures that could have affected the country.

President Mahama admitted that some of the policies introduced to stabilise the economy were difficult and unpopular, but he said they were necessary to rebuild confidence and return the country to growth.

He credited the progress to divine support, responsible economic leadership and the resilience of the Ghanaian people.

The President pointed to several improvements, including a major drop in inflation, a more stable cedi, reduced debt, stronger international reserves and improved investor confidence.

He explained that these gains are not the final goal, but a foundation for job creation, business growth, wider opportunities and better living conditions for Ghanaians.

President Mahama said the progress gives renewed hope to businesses, strengthens investor confidence and creates a better environment for national development.

The National Day of Prayer and Thanksgiving brought together religious leaders, government officials and citizens to pray for peace, unity and the continued growth of the country.
