GoldBod Introduces New LBMA-Based Gold Pricing System

The Ghana Gold Board, popularly known as GoldBod, has started using a new gold pricing structure based on the London Bullion Market Association pricing benchmark.

The new system, which took effect on Tuesday, July 1, 2026, applies to all licensed gold buyers and licensed miners operating in Ghana.

Under the new arrangement, gold purchases will be guided by two official pricing periods each trading day. These are the AM and PM pricing windows, both aligned with the LBMA benchmark system.

The AM pricing window will operate from 9:30 a.m. to 2:20 p.m. daily. The PM pricing window will begin from 2:30 p.m. and continue until 9:20 a.m. the following day.

GoldBod explained that all gold transactions must be booked in real time to ensure each purchase is recorded under the correct pricing period.

For AM transactions, bookings must be made between 9:30 a.m. and 2:20 p.m. PM bookings will be accepted from 2:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., and again from 6:00 a.m. to 9:20 a.m. the next day.

The Board has also introduced short suspension periods to allow smooth movement between the two pricing windows. During these periods, trading and booking will be temporarily stopped from 2:21 p.m. to 2:29 p.m. and from 9:21 a.m. to 9:29 a.m. each day.

GoldBod stated that no bookings will be accepted during the suspension times. Any transaction submitted outside the approved booking periods will be rejected and moved to the next valid pricing window.

The Board has therefore advised all licensed buyers and miners to update their operations and strictly follow the new pricing and booking rules.

GoldBod also encouraged stakeholders who need more information to contact the institution through its official communication channels.
